I will forever be stumped at the hate surrounding trigger warnings on Tumblr. A GROUP OF YOUNG PEOPLE GO OUT OF THEIR WAY TO BE CONSIDERATE OF OTHERS’ FEELINGS AND MAKE ONE WEBSITE MORE COMFORTABLE FOR PEOPLE HOW IS THAT A BAD THING

Being fathers is getting our daughters up at 5:30 am making breakfast getting them dressed for school and putting them on the bus by 6:30 .This is a typical day in our household . It’s not easy but we enjoy every moment and eveny minute of #fatherhood . #proudfathers #blackfathers #prouddads #gaydads

#people#this dispels like fifty stereotypes and I love it

Okay I’m reblogging this again because I want to point out how beautiful this is and the sheer number of stereotypes it disproves. The stereotype that a gay couple cant be good parents. The stereotype that men know nothing about caring for girls’ hair. The stereotype that all gay men are feminine. The stereotype that black men abandon their children. The stereotype that people with a lot of tattoos aren’t caring. The stereotype that black people are too lazy to care about things like school- This picture is a beautiful thing and I love everything about it and it makes me regain confidence in the world we live in

But yeah, Ian Paisley was an enormous bigot and a total bastard throughout his political career. As many in Northern Ireland were and continue to be.

I don’t and won’t miss him in Northern Ireland. His actions & campaigns have hurt far too many people, particularly people close to me. He has ensured progressive politics still has no foothold in this country in 2014.

Ian Richard Kyle Paisley, born 6th April 1926, has died today.
Ian was a politician and religious leader from Northern Ireland. As the leader of the Democratic Unionist Party (DUP), he and Sinn Féin’s Martin McGuinness were elected First Minister and deputy First Minister respectively on 8 May 2007 with the beginning of the power-sharing executive in Northern Ireland after the signing of the St. Andrew’s Agreement.
In addition to co-founding the DUP and leading it from 1971 to 2008, he was a founding member and was Moderator for 57 years of the Free Presbyterian Church of Ulster. In 2005, Paisley’s political party became the largest unionist party in Northern Ireland, displacing his long-term rivals, the Ulster Unionists (UUP), who had dominated unionist politics in Northern Ireland since before the partition of Ireland.
As Ian is remembered for his role in the peace process of Northern Ireland and becoming its First Minister, it’s important to also remember his past contributions to our country:

"“They breed like rabbits and multiply like vermin." - The Good Reverend giving his opinion on Irish Catholics.
"Catholic homes caught fire because they were loaded with petrol bombs; Catholic churches were attacked and burned because they were arsenals and priests handed out sub-machine guns to parishioners" - The Good Reverend commenting on Catholic families being burnt out of their homes.
"Line dancing is as sinful as any other type of dancing, with its sexual gestures and touching. It is an incitement to lust.” - The Good Reverend giving his opinion on… dancing…
"Save Ulster From Sodomy" - The political movement that Ian Paisley launched in protest against the decriminalisation of homosexuality in Northern Ireland.

His political and religious career was famed for its fury and openly sectarian mindset. On more than a few occasions he was known to have openly advocated genocide against Catholics in Northern Ireland.
He was involved in counter demonstrations against the Northern Ireland Civil Rights Association and in the establishment of paramilitary organisations in Northern Ireland.
It was in the mid-2000s as the peace process continued on that “Big Ian” finally changed his tune and agreed to sit down with Sinn Fein in order to work out a future for Northern Ireland. From decades of “No Surrender”, “ULSTER SAYS NO” and “NEVER NEVER NEVER”, the man who worked so hard to persuade unionists that to compromise was to sell Ulster to Rome decided it was time for a new path. This future was set out with the St. Andrew’s Agreement in 2006 which would introduce a power-sharing government in Northern Ireland between Unionist and Nationalist parties with Sinn Fein agreeing to openly support the new Police Service of Northern Ireland.  I’m sure the £100k a year pay cheque helped ease his pain.
So whilst we remember Ian as the great Unionist leader and orator that helped sign the agreement that would pave a new future for Northern Ireland. Let us never forget the egotistical bigot who openly rejected people’s demands for rights, encited genocide and helped fuel the sectarian hatred that made Northern Ireland bleed in the first place.

#27BiStories: Tell Us Something We Don’t Know

"Although this marks the final installment of our weeklong series, these stories are just the beginning of the conversation. As a nationally syndicated columnist recently illustrated, many people still lack a fundamental understanding about what it means to be bisexual in gay, lesbian, and straight communities. We will continue raising bisexual voices up until that’s no longer the case.

Thank you for reading #27BiStories.”

Check out these awesomely cute and sleepy pieces of topiary in the Jardin des Plantes de Nantes, a botanical garden located in Nantes, France. Created by French artist and children’s book author Claude Ponti, they’re part of the “Journey to Nantes" (Le Voyage à Nantes) art festival. These delightful topiary sculptures are just one stop on the festival’s 10-mile-long trail of public artwork on display throughout Nantes.

Photos by Molaire & Tentacules, Les petits nantais, Jean-Sebastian Evrard and Big City Life Nantes respectively. (The sleepy bird in the bottom image is from the 2013 festival.)

You know what I like, and feel is so important? That he doesn’t say “Men thinks those are THEIR positions”. He says “We think those are OUR positions.”

As a male feminist, he still doesn’t exclude himself from the group of men.

Baton Rouge cop resigns after he’s caught texting desire to ‘pull a Ferguson’ on ‘n*ggers’→

atane:

A police officer in Baton Rouge resigned Thursday after a local news channel revealed that he sent text messages in which he wished that fellow officers “would pull a Ferguson” on a “bunch of monkeys,” The Advocatereports.

Fifteen-year-veteran Michael Elsbury resigned on Thursday after text messages he sent to a female friend were brought to the attention of his superiors. In one message, Officer Elsbury — whose patrol included the area around the historically black Southern University — wrote that blacks are “nothing but a bunch of monkeys,” and that the “only reason they have this job is the nigger, nigger in them.” It is unclear what “job” he is referring to.

In another text, he wrote that “I wish someone would pull a Ferguson on them and take them out. I hate looking at those African monkeys at work…I enjoy arresting those thugs with their saggy pants.”

After WBRZ reported on the text messages, the female friend turned her phone over to police, who spent two days combing through it in order to authenticate the messages. At 6:15 p.m. on Wednesday night, the Baton Rouge Police Department had collected enough evidence to place Officer Elsbury on administrative leave.

On Thursday afternoon, he tendered his resignation.

Police Chief Carl Dabadie said that “it was gut-wrenching to believe that someone had that much hate in them, especially a police officer who is out there enforcing the law every day. It made me sick to my stomach.” Chief Dabadie said that he understands how an incident like this could “cast a bad light” on the entire department, but hopes the community can appreciate the alacrity with which the incident was handled.

“I believe this is an isolated incident that occurred between the officer and this girl,” he said. “I do not want this to become a direct reflection on our officers. I have 650 officers, and 649 of them work their butts off every day for the city of Baton Rouge.”

Some will still believe that cops like these are isolated cases.
